Anchorage and Fairbanks have Goodwill and Salvation Army locations, but outside those cities options thin out fast. Rural villages rely on tribal organizations and church groups to distribute clothing. A quality winter coat gets grabbed within hours here. Browse the full list below to find a drop-off near you, or use the map to see every location in the state.
Bean's Cafe, Brother Francis Shelter, and Goodwill of Alaska all accept year-round donations. Bean's and Brother Francis distribute directly to people in need rather than reselling.
Heavy winter coats, insulated boots, thermal base layers, and wool socks. Anything rated for sub-zero temperatures goes fast. Kids' winter gear is always in short supply.
Tribal councils and Alaska Native organizations coordinate shipments by barge and small aircraft to villages not on the road system. Contact them directly if you want your donation to reach rural areas.
Alaska has no state income tax, so there's no state deduction. Federal deductions still apply if you itemize. Keep your receipt.
