Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is a residential rehabilitation and treatment center caring for at-risk children aged 10–18, as well as their families.
It was established in 1952 as an outreach ministry by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). It has since grown to be one of the largest social service agencies in North Dakota. The ranch is exclusively funded by donations and sponsorships.
The organization provides educational services through the Dakota Memorial School, a trauma-informed school for students who have been admitted to the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch for residential treatment. A limited number of students who live at home can also attend the school through its Day Program.
Besides schooling, on-site psychiatric care, group foster care and spiritual counseling, the organization also offers therapeutic activities, such as the National Youth Project Using Minibikes (NYPUM) Program and equine psychotherapy. They also offer outpatient counseling.
This charity accepts one-time, continuous or deferred financial donations. Donors who commit to monthly contributions are dubbed “Honeycomb Partners.” One way to raise funds is through Honey Sunday hosting, which is done by congregations across the United States.
Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch also accepts gently used clothing, jewelry, houseware, toys, etc. These donated items are sold in online and physical thrift shops.
No matter whether you’re in or North Dakota – there’ll always be plenty of donations bins near you to choose from. Just click whichever state you’re in the you’ll see the biggest list of clothing bins near you.
